Astronomy Ph.D. student @UCR
I am Hui Hong (洪慧), a 2nd-year Ph.D. student at Department of Physics & Astronomy, University of California, Riverside. Currently, I am studying on the diffuse Lyman-alpha emission from intergalactic medium (IGM) at redshift z~2 with Keck Cosmic Web Imager (KCWI), working with Prof. George Becker. I got my Bachelor and Master degree from Department of Astronomy, University of Science and Technology of China. I am also interested in galaxy formation and evolution. I used observational data to do statistical analysis aimed at unraveling the mysteries of galaxies. Previously I made use of MaNGA IFS data to study spatially resolved properties of nearby galaxies. I am also interested in gas content of galaxies as gas is the direct fuel of new stars. I hope to study how galaxies evolve across the cosmic time. I enjoy discussions and interactions on a wide range of astrophysical topics with my peers. These exchanges of ideas have been a source of inspiration for me. I am the organizer of Galaxy and Cosmology Seminar. ![]() |
